Two and half years ago , my fluffy friend Magura asked for sort of favor – wanting me to make two (stereo) Babelfish J2 amps (one of Shameless First Watt Iteration by Mighty ZM )   for his friend , intended for biamping some Gargantuan speakers; after some time , we agreed about parts and everything , and adventure followed …..

They acquired heavy artillery – cases from HiFi2000 , Rifa caps , some heavy NTCs , Semisouth outputs , power On/Off switches , Cardas posts , XLRs , RCAs …. while mains xformers (500VA per stereo case) and pcbs with small parts and few other itsybitsies were mine to complete.

Then entire shebang was smuggled to my (non-EU) country and work begun .

Cases are 5U/400mm deep .

Semi-assembling and first markings for drilling and tapping:

Tapping and assembling :

Some heavier and some lighter drilling and filing , further assemblage :

Then forming PSU :

Wires from Mains IEC to front are routed beneath mounting plate , practically shielded from rest of amp :

Preparing Donuts and mounting them ; key word is soft ; neoprene glue is used for neoprene rubber ….

More wire harness ( and Coffee) :

Few details beneath mounting plate :

Closing bottoms , firing them , adjusting , testing , closing lids …… usual things ( and taking zillion of photos) :

Putting them in cardboard boxes , and sending them (smuggling again !) to Hungary  :

I intended to collect them in Hungary and bring them to my Yoda , in Vienna ; then DHL from Vienna to Denmark , packed in proper Crates (redish on pics is from red plastic roof , in front of my garage) :

Then at Yoda’s place …….. pure joy and bliss – fooling around with him , his Precious and my Precious ……. beautiful weekend in Vienna .

Testing them (just in case), then final packing :

And …… my Yoda proudly standing tall 😉
